Izmir to Ephesus by train

For travellers who will be staying at hotels near Basmane district in Izmir, we recommend them to take the 9.00am train from Basmane Train Station which will arrive to Selcuk (Ephesus) at 10.15am. (Same train stops at Izmir Airport Train Station at 9.20am). Our tour guide and vehicle can meet you at Selcuk Train Station. After the private tour of Ephesus you will be dropped back to Selcuk Train Station for your return journey to Izmir or Izmir Airport. Return train will leave Selcuk at 6.00pm and arrive Izmir Basmane Train station at 7.15pm.

The train ride takes about 1 hour 15 minutes.
Costs approximately 10tl (1.5 Euro / 2 USD) per person (one way)

How do I get to Ephesus?

Taking the train from Izmir Basmane Train Station to Selcuk is an enjoyable way to see the Western Turkey. The train passes through the rich fertile farmlands, orchards and vineyards stopping at the small farming towns and villages along the way. Train is the cheapest way to travel, though not the fastest and not the most comfortable way to travel between Izmir and Ephesus.

* You can not prebook train tickets. You can buy them with Turkish Liras cash at Train Staitions. It is recommended to be at the train stations 20 minutes before the departure of the train to avoid disappointment.
