Today, we had a family of 3 from Seattle, USA. We picked them from DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Kusadasi at 9.30am. After a 2 hours drive we stopped at Obam Restaurant in Kuyucak where the guests sampled local kebaps. Obam is a local restaurant known with lamb grill. Guests savoured Adana Kebap, Chicken Shish and Lamb Kebap served with smoked eggplant meze (cold appetizer) and Turkish pita bread with local butter and feta cheese.
Afterwards we continued to Pamukkale. After an hour drive, we were dropped at the North Gate of Pamukkale and started our exploration. We walked through the ancient necropolis (cemetery) and the ruins of Ancient City of HIerapolis. Hierapolis is the ancient name of Pamukkale. We stopped at Cleopatra Baths and had a break at the theater of Hierapolis enjoying the great views of Pamukkale. The weather was perfect no wind at all. Watched a balloon. There is a project to offer Balloon tours in Pamukkale like Cappadocia.
Afterwards we walked approximately 30 minutes on the white calcium carbonate terraces of Pamukkale down the hill. Our driver was waiting for us at the lower gate of Pamukkale. Our Pamukkale visit took 3 hours and guests were delighted with the unique formations of Pamukkale and the ruins of Hierapolis.
At the end of the tour we took the guests to Denizli Cardak Airport for their flight back to Istanbul.
We have noted that the referenced guests wrote a a review of their experience on tripadvisor. Below please read the candid review of our guest who booked a private tour of Ephesus and Pamukkale with us.
“denizhan pekoz - excellent tour guide”
I first got to know Denizhan through the great review from trip advisor. He had been helping us to plan our trip since i first contacted him. He is fast in replying my emails and already had a thorough plan for us from his first response. We had a 2 day tour with him. He picked us up at the Izmir airport with a driver and a very clean and comfortable van. He was very thoughtful and provided us with many bottled water. We visited Ephesus right away and we were so impressed with the enormous remains, marbled streets and huge theater of this ancient city. Denizhan told us a lot of its history. We stay overnight at Kusadasi. The second day we visited Pamukkale. Denizhan brought us walking along the tombs and then through the city and eventually walking barefoot down the calcium deposit terrace where the driver met us at that end. It was a well planned tour so that we can see more conveniently. In between, Denizhan let us take our time walked to the theater and sat there for sometime to enjoy the sunset and relax so a planned 2 hour visit turned to 3 hours. Of course it took us a long time to walk down the terrace too. We highly recommend Denizhan as your tour guide. He speaks perfect English and is very knowledgeable of the history of the places. He even helped us plan our next 4 day stay in Istanbul on the way he brought us to the Denizli airport at the end of the tour
