How much is the entrance fee for Ephesus ?

Cost of entrance fees:

Ephesus + Ephesus Experience Museum: 40 Euro per person
House of Mary: 12 Euro p.p. (400 TL)
Temple of Artemis: Free of Charge
St. John's Basilica: 6 Euro p.p.
Sirince Village: Free of charge

There is no admission fee for children under 8 years old. For the proof of age, please bring passport copies with you.

Under 12 years old is free of charge for Ephesus Ancient City and all the other archaeological sites except Terrace Houses.

There is taxi stand at the lower gate. We are assuming that the cost of taxi would be approximetly 100-140 Turkish Liras to Kusadasi.
There are also small buses from Selcuk to Kusadasi. To use these buses you need to walk 1.5 km to the highway. They run regularly. You pay cash on board. It costs 7 Turkish Liras

It is possible to see all these sites in one day.
But due to distance between them, you need to drive. They are not in walking distance to each other.
There is a train to Selcuk town from Izmir Airport. But it is not very frequent.
The easiest way is to hire a taxi or book a private tour in this way you can easily visit all the mentioned sites.

Turkey Museum pass will not provide entrance to House of Virgin Mary. But you can use it for rest of the mentioned sites.
The museum pass costs 180 Turkish Liras

My partner and I are looking to visit Ephesus, The Terraced Houses, The Ephesus museum, Pamukkale, Hierapolis and Cleopatra's pool. We would like freedom of movement and dictate our own pace, perhaps over several days. We were looking to stay in Altinkum but can you suggest the easiest ways to travel to make most of the full opening times? And is there anywhere closer to stay near the sites?

The walk from House of Virgin Mary to Ephesus would take approx. 40 minutes. This is a downhill walk. The distance is 8 kilometers.

On August 10th, there is no change. You can visit the sites in the morning.

Thank you so much for you quick response. I've been looking into this and I stumbled upon a travel blog that said that travelling during Kurban Bayramı could get a little challenging.

Our original plan was to depart from Bergama on the 10th over to Izmir, then moving on to either Selçuk by train or Kusadasi by bus on either the 11th or the 12th, and finally moving over to Denizli by train from Selçuk on the 13th.

I can't seem to find buses or trains for those dates anywhere. Does this mean that we can't travel during those dates or simply that they are not yet available online? We are also leaving from Denizli on the 15th to Marmaris by bus and I believe the 15th is the last day of Kurban Bayramı. Do you know if it will also affect our travel plans?

We do not recommend the travellers to use public transportation during eid. Due to holiday period they will be packed with people. You need to book them in advance. The prices go double on eid period. We recommend you to rent a car. We do not recommend public transport during eid. You would be dissapointed.

Kindly note that Ephesus has two entrances, named as Upper Gate and Lower Gate.

You can not use euro cash for the entrance fees. Only Turkish lira cash is accepted. In house of virgin Mary, credit cards are not accepted. But in all the other sites Visa and Mastercard cards are accepted.

The lockdown will continue until May 18th.
There is no restrictions for the foreighn visitors.
Ephesus Ancient City and the Basilica of St. John is open for foreign visitors between 10am-5pm.

Yes, all the sites are open during ramadan. Only on the first day of Eid the site opens at 1pm.

Yes, pets are allowed in Ephesus. There is no restrictions for pets and also no charge. Kindly note that Ephesus has so many stray dogs and cats. Your pet could be distracted by them.

Same taxi can take you to both Ephesus and House of Virgin Mary. They have taxi meters but they generally charge approximately 70-80 euros.

Thank you very much for your interest. On the first days of the Eid the site opens at 1pm. But we were informed that tomorrow there will be a cruise ship. Therefore they are going to open the site at 8am.

The theater of Ephesus is currently open for visits, allowing tourists and history enthusiasts to explore its grandeur..The restoration project has not yet commenced. Alongside the theater, all the other sites in Ephesus are also open for visits at this time.
