Majority of the sites which is  visited today, are the civil buildings. For the last 5 years visitors can also  visit an on going excavation site named as Terrace Houses. Ephesus is a must see site. A lot of the visitors who visit the site, compare Ephesus with Pompei. Pompei and Ephesus are  both from the same period. Pompei, was under the eruption of Vezivius in 74AD,  at that time Pompei had a population of 20.000 where Ephesus had over 200.000  inhabitants. Pompei was made with ordinary stone, %95 of Ephesus is made with  marble. Pompei and Ephesus today are both considered among the most well  preserved cities of the ancient world.
